Gear Bag Essentials for Photo & Video

As a creative team passionate about video and photography, we believe that the right gear can make all the difference in bringing our visions to life. Whether we’re capturing media, getting that  lighting just right, or gathering clear audio, having reliable equipment is crucial. In this blog, we’re excited to share some of our favorite photo and video gear that we use on the daily for our shoots.

Cameras

Video Camera

If we are shooting video, you can definitely find the Sony Alpha 7S III in our gear bag. With its exceptional low-light performance and 4K video capabilities, it provides the versatility we need for any shooting environment.

Photo Camera

For photography, we rely on the Sony Alpha 7R IV. This camera is renowned for its dynamic range and autofocus speed, making it perfect for capturing sharp, detailed images in various settings.

Lenses

Video Lens

Our favorite lens for video is the Sony FE 24-70 mm F2.8. Its fast aperture and versatile focal range allow us to achieve beautiful bokeh while maintaining sharpness, whether we're shooting interviews or dynamic b-roll.

Photo Lens

For photos, we love using the Sony FE 50mm F1.2 . This prime lens is lightweight, affordable, and delivers stunning portraits with its creamy background blur.

Audio Gear

Run and Gun

When we need to capture audio on the move, we turn to the DJI Mic 2. This compact wireless mic system is perfect for capturing clear sound without the hassle of cables.

Interview Mic

For interviews, the Rode NTG-2 is our go-to choice. Its rich sound quality and USB/XLR versatility make it ideal for both in-studio and on-location recordings.

Recorder

The Zoom H4n Pro is essential for our audio setup. Its multi-track recording capabilities allow us to capture high-quality sound with ease.

Drones

Our aerial shots are elevated by the DJI Air 3. This drone is lightweight, easy to fly, and produces stunning 4K footage, perfect for adding a new perspective to both our lifestyle and corporate projects.

Lighting

Run and Gun Lights

For quick setups, we use the Lume Cube Bicolor Panel. It’s portable, adjustable, and delivers consistent light output, making it ideal for on-the-go shooting.

Interview Lights

When we need to create a professional atmosphere for interviews, the Aputure Amaran 200X-S is our lighting choice. Its powerful output and soft light capability help us create flattering lighting conditions.

Softbox for Light Diffusion

To achieve that perfect soft glow, we use the Aputure Light Dome II. It’s essential for diffusing light, minimizing harsh shadows, and creating a more cinematic look.

Having the right gear is fundamental to our creative process. Each piece of equipment we’ve mentioned plays a vital role in helping us tell compelling stories through video and photography. We hope this list inspires fellow creators to explore new tools and have a better idea of what to add to their gear bag.
